About Folly Beach
Known as "The Edge of America" Folly Beach is a departure from the resort style beach communities and more of a throwback to the no frills beach towns of the past with just a couple of locally owned hotels, a plethora of mom and pop restaurants and nightlife spots often showcasing live local music and miles of sand and surf known for the best waves in town! Make sure to stop in at the famous Bowens Island Restaurant, as long as the month ends in R, and leave your mark on the Folly Boat, painted daily, sometimes multiple times, by locals to commemorate birthdays and other special events or sentiments since it washed onto shore after Hurricane Hugo in 1989.
